Grants talk:Project/Rapid/UG EG/Wiki Loves Monuments in Egypt 2017

Hi Mohamed Ouda, Kamal Osama, and Ahmed Mohi El din. Thank you for this grant request and all your efforts to organize WLM in Egypt! We have a few comments and questions before move forward with the request.

  1. The request says, "We have to mention also here that this is the first Wiki Loves Monuments photo contest in Egypt". Our understanding that this is the 5th year WLM will take place in Egypt. If this is the case, what are the main lessons learned that you're integrating in this year's contest? Are you trying anything different to cover new monuments, create partnerships, or engage new contributors?
  2. What will you do to "encourage the Egypt editing community to enrich existing articles related to the monuments, to add pictures to related Wikipedia or Wikivoyage articles".
  3. Please provide more budget details for the photowalk. What does the $500 include and how many people do you expect will participate?

Thanks! Alex Wang (WMF) (talk) 17:12, 1 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi Alex . please find below my answers

  1. Sorry this was typo and I fixed it yes this will be the 5th, and the learned lessons we get is the importance of the media coverage of the contest to attract new contributors and yes we will make the photowalk to a new place to cover new monuments
  2. We will encourage contributors to add photos to Articles on Arabic Wikipedia and Wikivoyage by making a special price to this
  3. I modified the grant and added the details now --Mohamed Ouda (talk) 07:31, 5 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hi Mohamed Ouda. Thanks for the details. It's great that one of the 4 prizes will be for photo integration. $500 for 15 people seems high, but we trust that you have researched the costs. This grant is approved. Cheers, Alex Wang (WMF) (talk) 18:18, 5 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
