Hi Lafemo 123. Thanks so much for this grant request! It's a great to idea to organize activities around integrating photos from Wiki Loves Africa into articles. We have a few follow-up questions on the request:
- Do you already have a list of articles that need photos you know are available from the contest?
- Yes, we have list of articles that need photos, and the photos are available from the contest. For example, c:File:1st generation of adhola culture.JPG may be used on Adhola people, c:File:A masquerade dancing in Calabar.jpg on Masquerade ceremony, and c:File:1st generation of Bamasaba culture.JPG on Masaba people to mention few.
- Three days seems like a very long time to spend integrating photos. Have you considered doing one or two days? It might be a good idea to start with one day to see what kind of participation you get and then hold another event if there is a lot of engagement.
- One of the goals of this project is to increase the number of contributors to Wikimedia projects and we intend to achieve this by introducing participants to various Nigerian language version of Wikipedia, like Yoruba and Igbo Wikipedia. Participant will also be introduced to the concept of image licensing and how to upload images to Commons. These cannot be achieve in one day since most participant have no knowledge of Wikipedia and editing.
- Have you researched if there are any venues that can offer a space for free, such as a library or a school?
- Yes, I have contacted four schools if they would allow us to use their facility, but no response from any of them and there is no hope of response from them considering the ongoing indefinite strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities. From past experience relying on schools/library facilities does not always work.

- Hi Lafemo 123. Apologies I did not see that you had responded to my questions. It's always helpful to ping the person you are responding to so they are notified. I see that you had planned the editathon for August 24-26. Since that date is now past, are you still planning on organizing it if the grant is approved? We would be happy to fund a one-day editathon to understand the level of interest from participants and team's capacity for organizing this event. If it is a success and participants would like to continue to meet in person to integrate photos, we can consider additional funding. Please revise the budget accordingly and we can move forward. - @AWang (WMF):, I have adjusted the budget and the date of the event to September 30, 2017. Thank you. Lafemo 123 (talk) 20:17, 6 September 2017 (UTC)
