Did you find having the different events to be a useful model? It's great that you did a survey and are interested in getting feedback from participants and supporting future participants even more. -- The staff attended the training (6 people). They helped others during the event. I think having the training in a different session was useful to an extent. During the editathon, people could come at any point during the afternoon (from 3 to 9 pm). So someone from the staff was always available to help newcomers. However, the way in which staff helped others varied. For example, some didn't specify that it was not necessary to create a new article from scratch. We had help sheets which described other ways of participating, such as editing or translating an existing article. But it was not enough to clarify that there was no need to create something completely new. Some participants felt overwhelmed with the challenge! For the future, we are thinking about having a training session for everyone at the beginning of the editathon and having a FAQs sheet with common issues that we have now identified.

We have gathered some useful data from the follow-up survey. Most participants reported feeling satisfied with their experience and wanting to keep contributing to other open initiatives.
