Grants talk:Project/Rapid/Wiki Loves Africa Benin 2019/Report

Report accepted

edit

Hi, Fawaz.tairou, thank you for submitting this final report and your expense documentation. I have reviewed and accepted both! Please note that this grant will not be complete until we decide what to do with the remaining funds.

Comments and Questions

  1. Congratulations on your first time participating in Wiki Loves Africa! Despite the lack of a professional camera, your participants submitted some beautiful photos and it's wonderful to see what "Play" looks like in Benin. And congratulations on meeting or exceeding your goals in terms of number of participants and number of photos uploaded.
  2. You mentioned that in the future you would like to involve more professional photographers. What ideas do you have for engaging them in the contest in the future?
  3. What would you hope to achieve by adding more edit-a-thons and upload sessions next time?
  4. Since the contest ended have you discussed further collaborations with Campus Numerique francophone de Cotonou and Institut Français du Bénin?

Remaining Funds

In regards to the remaining funds, you have three options:

  1. You can request to have the funds deducted from a future grant. You would need to submit a new application within 30 days and it would need to meet all the requirements for a rapid grant, including the $500 USD minimum.
  2. You can request to keep the funds and use them for mission-aligned activities.
  3. You can return the funds to WMF, following these instructions.

When you decide what you would like to do with the remaining funds, please edit this report's "Remaining funds" section with your request. A WMF program officer will then review it and post a decision.

Many thanks for your help with this final step of the grant, and for all the hard work you have put into it. We appreciate you sharing what you learned with WMF and the community!

Hi LSmith (WMF)
Thanks for your review. Please find my answers below.
Comments and Questions
  • With regard to professional photographers, I think that by informing them as soon as the competition is prepared, we will have more time to mobilize them. The main difficulty in this contest was their availability during the period.
  • By adding more edit-a-thons and upload sessions next time, I hope to increase photos used in projects contents. We planned to have more than 20 images in the wikis and have only 17 in the end. With more edit-a-thons, we could have better results.
  • We're preparing Wiki Loves Earth 2019 contest in Benin and Campus Numerique francophone de Cotonou is already identified to host activities. We are also working on two projects (WikiClubRFI and Wiki loves (French) Translations) with Institut Français du Bénin and Campus Numerique francophone de Cotonou. We have several projects for coming months with both.
Remaining Funds
We have no remain fund. This is due to the extra two weeks time of the contest and bank fees on the transfer. We've got 1857.5 USD with the grant and finally spent 1936.40 USD.
Thanks for all.
Sincerely, --Fawaz.tairou (talk) 17:17, 23 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
