Hello Akasten47, and thanks for your proposal focused on developing better content on women journalists, as well as working closely with relevant journalism organizations. It's great to see your continued interest in developing content to address this gap in coverage, and you have gathered a robust and experienced team to support this work. Here are my questions and comments:

  • Thanks for providing helpful links in your events to what resources you are using to help guide what articles can potentially be supported through this program (i.e. en:Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Journalists and en:Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Missing articles by occupation/Journalists). One optional suggestion I had was to see if it possible to conduct a query on some relevant, non-English Wikipedia project categories (e.g. es:Categoría:Mujeres_periodistas to see what articles might be missing in English Wikipedia (or other Wikipedia projects your participants want to work in). When identified, developing these articles could also be supported through the Content Translation tool.
  • Because this proposal's budget is solely focused on a compensation need, would you be able to provide a brief description of the main roles and responsibilities of the edit-a-thon leads? This does not need to be comprehensive, and should only focus on the tasks that will be most important or that the edit-a-thon leads will spend the most time on in these roles.

Please let me know if you have any questions or needs for clarification. With thanks, I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 21:23, 15 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi User:I JethroBT (WMF),

Re: your first point, the Women Do News team says: "This is a great idea, and as we add language expertise to our board and volunteer roster, we will keep it in mind!"

For your second point, the edit-a-thon leads liaise with our partners, set up the space (virtual or physical) and make announcements, offer guidance and keep the group together throughout the process. They also troubleshoot with participants, explain how Women Do News works, and report back on participation.

Let me know if we can answer any other questions. Thanks. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Akasten47 (talk)
