Hi Stephane (WMCH)

Thanks for submitting this request. In general, we think this is a strong proposal and we are inclined to fund your participation in this event. We have one question, first. You mentioned that User:Racso invited you and already presented there last year. Are we to understand that Racso has presented about offline Wikipedia in the past at this event? If so, can you help us understand better what your presence will add that Racso would not be able to accomplish on his own?

Hello, Marti. I'd like to answer your question by myself.

Indeed, I spoke last year in the same event, and the presentation was pretty well received by the audience and the organization. However, the presentation wasn't about offline Wikipedia, but about the creation of software (bots, tools, etc.) to enhance the Wikimedia projects for both visitors and editors. My poster shows a bit more of the topics I mentioned there.

This year, the event organization (UNAB, a university in Bucaramanga) asked me if there were other wikimedians who could partipate in the event with other useful Wikimedia-related topics. I made some invitations, and Stephane's was one of them. He was eager to help, and his topic, Kiwix/offline Wikipedia was very well received by the event organization, so here we are.

As Stephane says in his proposal, this talk-workshop will be a nice first inter-group collaboration for WMCH and WMCO in the Iberocoop initiative (as a sidenote: it has also been a good collaboration opportunity between WMCO and UPB [my university, also in Bucaramanga], as they are helping us with infrastructure and divulgation for the event). Of course, I've been closely involved with this process with both Stephane and the event organizers and I'm open to help during the activity, but Stephane's presence is vital as he's the expert in Kiwix and the general Offline Wikipedia topic, not me (in fact, we at WMCO haven't worked with offline Wikipedia before, so the workshop will be useful for us, too :P).

Your post-event report must provide a link to an outcome from your participation. We recommend that you start planning your outcome now so you are prepared to submit it as part of your report, which is due 14 days after the event.

Note that an outcome does not include the materials you prepare to present at the event (though we’d like you to link to those, too), but something that is created during or after the event because of your participation. This might be a link to something new that was co-created by you and your fellow participants at the event, a blog post you wrote to share your experience with others after the event, or a learning pattern to teach others something you've learned at the event. If you choose to make a learning pattern, think creatively about what you learned. If you address a target audience about whom you have special expertise, your learning pattern might focus on a strategy you employed that was successful in engaging that specific audience in our projects.
