Explain your plan

Tell us about how you contribute currently, and how you would contribute if WMF were to gift a used laptop to you. Most of my work since 2016 has been the creation of articles in Wikipedia in Spanish related to the traditional and ancestral cultures, and natural environment from Latin America, including mountains, plant species and cultural practices (especially from Peru where I am from). Examples of this are the creation of original articles such as Mambe (cultural practice in Peru, Brasil and Colombia), Raspa del jíkuri (cultural practice in Mexico) and Estela del portador del cactus (archaeological artifact from Chavin culture in Peru).

I also contribute with the creation and translation of articles related to sustainability and planetary health such as Assessment Report on Pollinators, Pollination and Food Production, World Food Safety Day, and Saúl Luciano (climate justice legal case in Germany).

Since 2004 I have been creating contents on the web related to the Andes in photographic, video and editorial format. I have a YouTube Channel, a blog and a web page of the organisation I created with two friends. I have organised workshops, festivals and symposia in Peru in order to educate, exchange and communicate wisdom and values from the Andes that I believe are relevant today. Although, I am engineer and studied international development and cultural anthropology at master's level, I consider myself a story teller. For example, some of my filmwork can not only be seen in my YouTube channel but at websites such as Unesco´s and have been screened in festivals around the world. From 2005 to 2013 I published a bilingual cultural magazine that had the objective of bridging the gap between academic and popular knowledge, some of the issues were uploaded to archive.org.

Now, Wikimedia Foundation projects are part of the platforms I use to research, communicate, educate and conserve knowledge. Last year and this one I have organised editathons, photo walks and trainings in collaboration with Art+Feminismo.Peru. I expect to continue organising events and contributing to strengthen the Wikimedia movement in Peru.

Last year my laptop brokedown while doing cultural activities in Mexico and I havent been able to replace it. This has caused some troubles in my resource use efficacy and efficiency but hasnt stopped me continuing with my communication work outside and inside WMF. A used gift laptop will critically contribute to my work as I would not depend on others to use a computer, I will be able to continue both editing articles, videos and photographs to strengthen the Wikimedia movement in the Andes.

  2. CBrescia has been an active editor for several years, contributing to the creation, improvement and translation of articles on topics of critical importance to the encyclopedia. In the last two years, he has led the Wiki Loves Andes campaign, the first Wikimedia-related campaign outside the capital, Lima, which constitutes a significant advance in the expansion of Wikimedia culture in Peru. I consider that CBrescia has the necessary professional skills to continue on this path and for therefore I support this hardware donation request. --Yhhue91 (talk) 03:28, 23 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
