Subpages

This page should probably mention the existence of the forward-slash notation for subpages. I had a hell of a game finding the documentation for it. -- w:User:JTN -- 62.253.128.11 01:45, 11 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Thanks, done.--Patrick 10:23, 11 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Additionally, there's no mention of the fact that within subpages, links to parent pages can be created using [[../]], or [[../../]] for grandparent pages, [[../../../]] for great-grandparent pages, etc . . .
I fixed that in Help:Link#Relative_links.--Patrick 08:27, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Also, using the above mechanic, I can't seem to figure out how to link to anchors within ancestor pages. —Sledged (talk) 04:21, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
That does not seem possible. I added that.--Patrick 08:27, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Secrets are Bad

The subsection "Namespace prefixes" says, "the second page name is not possible on e.g. the German Wikipedia: see w:de:Talk: Secrets are Bad." The link, however, leads to a page named "Diskussion:Secrets are Bad" in the German Wikipedia, though you are told, "Diese Diskussionsseite existiert noch nicht," or "This discussion page doesn't exist yet." This is quite similar to where we get to by the link w:Talk: Secrets are Bad. What is impossible with the German Wikipedia? -- Toby (YebisYa) IQUEPPE 06:51, 11 Feb 2005 (UTC)

The example is about a book with the exact title "Talk: Secrets are Bad" and the possibility to have an article with this title.--Patrick 10:17, 11 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Now I know where I went wrong. Thank you, Patrick. Seemingly, however, the story is a little EN-centric. The page name "Talk: **any title you like**" would be impossible on every Wikipedia of the main article namespace associated with the "Talk namespace" (or rather its equivalent) that defines page names starting with a prefix word other than "Talk", or possibly on many or most language versions of Wikipedia. The English Wikipedia is exceptional, I believe.--Toby (YebisYa) IQUEPPE 05:29, 12 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Article titles with_underscores

I'm having trouble creating a page that has an underscore in the name. It is simply converted into a space. Trying to create a page with "%5F" in the name does not lead to joy either. Does anyone have any suggestions or am I just stuck with this? Thanks, Bovlb 23:48, 8 September 2005 (UTC)

This is not possible because underscores are equivalents to spaces in page titles (but not in section names).
However "self refering links" will differentiate between underscores and spaces: Help talk:Page_name.
