This is an Igbo language video of how to translate movement Charter and other related content on Meta-Wiki

The Movement Charter will be a document defining roles and responsibilities for all the members and entities of the Wikimedia movement, including laying out a new Global Council for movement governance. The Movement Charter is a Movement Strategy priority.

Thus, this event themed Movement Charter language visibility is a translation event that is targeted at ensuring a better understanding of the Movement Charter among the Igbo community for equity and inclusion. It will engage participants on Meta-Wiki translation to ensure that Movement Charter exist in Igbo language. This event will also lead to participant's increased understanding of Meta-Wiki, Movement Charter and Movement Charter chapters and translations.

Aim

The purpose of this is to ensure Equity in Decision making,ensuring equitable opportunities for participation in decision-making and resource allocation.

Also to ensure that our community is fully engaged in the community review process, that every community member understands the Movement Charter content, and can easily provide responses on what they want and how they want it in a better way.Community inclusiveness also include Translating Movement Charter pages to Igbo language to have it first hand accessible in our language.

Outcome

The Enugu State in-person event organized under the IG Wiki Hub Enugu an arm of the Igbo Wikimedians User Group was held at the National Energy Research Center University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Majority of the participants were new, with no prior knowledge about Wikimedia projects. They were taken through some basics, creating of accounts, basic knowledge of what Wikimedia Foundation is all about. Participants were also educated about Movement Strategy, Movement Charter and the need for language visibility. Our major focus was on translation. Participants were trained on how to translate English to Igbo language on Meta-Wiki. This was very exciting for them particularly as they learnt that they could leverage their translation skills to promote Igbo language and culture. Though, for majority of them, it was their first time of contributing to Wikimedia project, they appreciated the training and experience. Translating the Movement Charter and having it in Igbo language was awesome for the participants.

Majority of the participants came with smart phones, only three persons came with laptops, effort was made to train both mobile phone users and laptop users. Within the timeline given for translation, 20 pages were translated from English to Igbo. See Translation list above for more details. About eight pages were not marked for translation during the translation timeline.

Challenge

On the day of our event, one of the presidential candidates in the forthcoming Nigeria election visited University of Nigeria Nsukka for campaign. This posed a challenge as everyone wanted to go and listen to the man candidate. Thus, my team and I were worried about the attendance. However, we were overwhelmed at the astonishing attendance.
