Hello @Info-farmer.

I don't think its possible to target certain characters and apply styles to them using just CSS. We'll need to use JavaScript to add a class around the characters that you want to target and then use that class to apply the necessary CSS. Please take a look at this answer on StackOverflow as an example: https://stackoverflow.com/a/16092091
I think you'll need to build a user script to achieve this.

@Ramesam54: you can use crop image script personally by adding below to s:sa:User:Ramesam54/common.js
mw.loader.load("//kn.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mediawiki:Cropimage.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript");
For sitewide usage ask local admin add gadget by copying from s:kn:Mediawiki:Cropimage.js page to s:sa:Mediawiki:Cropimage.js and add below to
*Cropimage[ResourceLoader|default]|Cropimage.js
to editing-tools-for-Page-namespace section on s:sa:Mediawiki:Gadgets-definition page .~aanzx © 22:27, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

License Import Improvement Request

edit

Hello

Thank you for your wonderful work. Recently, I started using WikiFile Transfer to import local uploads from Enwiki to Tewiki. It is a very helpful tool that reduces a lot of manual effort and allows Wikimedians to spend their time elsewhere. However, our fellow Wikimedian Chaduvari found that it is not importing the license to Tewiki. So, users again need to manually add that to the files. Considering the volume of work (thousands of articles without photos are being improved with this tool), this would definitely be a burden for users.

Therefore, we would like to request you to see if it can be improved in such a way that license details are also imported. Thank you for considering.

Wikifunctions - learn about and contribute to the project

edit

Greetings all. This is more of an "FYI" than a specific request, but I think you all might be interested. (This appears to be the best way to contact the group. Please redirect, or archive or remove this post, if necessary).

Briefly: If you are interested in Wikifunctions.org, the newest Wikimedia project, we invite you to join us! There are many ways to contribute, and many ways to learn more about the project. There is also a video-meeting on Monday where you can ask questions and learn about recent updates.

In detail: We invite you to visit the wiki - https://www.wikifunctions.org/ - There you can:

  • read more about the project,
  • create new functions, contribute to existing functions, and suggest new functions,
  • participate in discussions about content and about policy,
  • share feedback about anything you find confusing in the system or documentation, or requests for new features.

Your perspectives, contributions, and feedback are needed to help make this a useful and global resource.

We also invite you to join the next edition of the Wikifunctions & Abstract Wikipedia Volunteers’ Corner – a monthly 30 minute video meeting – that will take place online on 4 December at 18:30 UTC, on Google Meet at this link. In this meeting we will give a quick update on the development and upcoming changes, offer space for questions from you, and, if time permits, collaboratively create a new function. Bring ideas for a new function along!

Please reach out to us if you have any questions or suggestions.

Best wishes, Quiddity (WMF) (talk) 01:16, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
