The Kashmiri Wikimedians User Group is a non-profit affiliate of the Wikimedia Foundation. Our mission is to promote the Kashmiri language and culture through various Wikimedia projects and outreach events. We organize edit-a-thons, workshops, and other community-driven activities to encourage the contribution of knowledge to the global commons.

Event Manager Vacancy

Position: Event Manager
Location: Remote (Preferably based in Kashmir)

Type: Contract (to end on 31st March)
Stipend: 5000INR/month

Role Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Event Manager to coordinate and oversee the planning and execution of events. The Event Manager will work closely with the core team and community members to ensure the smooth running of both virtual and in-person events.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, organize, and execute events (workshops, edit-a-thons, meetings, etc.) that align with the goals of the User Group.
Collaborate with community members and external stakeholders to ensure successful event participation.
Manage logistics, including scheduling, venue arrangements (if offline), technical setup, and communication with participants.
Promote events across different platforms (social media, Wikimedia platforms, etc.).
Monitor and evaluate the success of each event, gathering feedback to improve future events.
Maintain a calendar of upcoming events and deadlines.

Skills

Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Experience in event planning and management (preferably in the non-profit sector).
Familiarity with Wikimedia projects (or willingness to learn).
Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and in remote settings.
Strong time-management skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency in Kashmiri and English.

Preferred but not Required

Experience in community engagement or working with volunteers.
Background in event promotion and marketing.
Knowledge of the Wikimedia movement and its values.
