What problem does this solve?

edit

Because surveys collect data, there are many laws that protect different kinds of data. Be informed of common laws and regulations, or where to ask about them.

What is the solution?

edit

There are few elements in surveys that may involve legal review or support. Here are a few:

  • Clicking survey link that will take you to an external service (e.g. Google, Qualtrics, Survey Monkey, etc.)
  • Most (or potentially all) surveys require some kind of disclaimer text to say how you will use the data and how you will use the data submitted.
  • How to handle private data may be important. How long will you retain the data? These are important questions to consider.
  • Laws change from one country to another. It's important to not only consider this list, but potentially other areas that are important in your local area.
