Living people

Living people may be harmed by inappropriate materials hosted at any Wikimedia sites, so some sites have specific categories and even policies to watch relevant pages more closely. Neutral points of views, accuracies, proper sources, and personality rights are commonly considered especially important for materials concerning living people.

The following Wikimedia sites have specific categories for living people so changes can be watched more closely:

• English Wikipedia has w:Category:Living people since 19 January 2006. It was once nominated for deletion, but Jimbo Wales ordered to keep it. w:Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons is a policy there.
• Wikimedia Commons has commons:Category:Living people since 18 November 2006. It was once nominated for deletion but withdrawn as respecting living people's personality rights would be especially important.
• English Wikiquote has q:Category:Living people since 15 March 2007. Its purpose is similar to the corresponding category on English Wikipedia. q:Wikiquote:Quotes of living persons is a draft policy based on the English Wikipedia policy.
• English Wikisource has s:Category:Living authors since 29 May 2007. Its purpose is to help watch living authors' works to protect their integrity pending full protections. Even though most living authors' works are copyrighted, limited works have their copyrights released into the public domain.
