Maithili Wikimdians Event

Wikipedia Awareness Program abbreviated as WAP is a program organized by Maithili Wikimedians User Group to aware and train the interested college students about Wikipedia and it's sister projects. This is not only an event for the MWUG members but also to restore the momentum of this User Group and to increase the outreach activities in Nepal.

The world is massively hit by COVID-19 in 2019 and the disease spread so quickly worldwide, which cause WHO to declare public health emergency of international concern. We are also affected by the same and our outreach activities get stuck for next 2 and a half years. On 4th of May 2023, we have a online meetup with team members to discuss about to resume the Wikipedia outreach activities as well as how we can achieve our goals.

With the note form the meeting, we have started Wikipedia Awareness Program for the college students in Rajbiraj. The main aim of the program is to pick interested students from the college to train them in a Wikipedia Workshop. There are more than 18 colleges in Rajbiraj and neighboring areas.

Mission College, Rajbiraj

The first Wikipedia Awareness Program was conducted on 9 July, 2023 in Mission College, Rajbiraj. We have provided a form sheet to the students and told them to fill the form with their contact details, if they are interested to join our free Wikipedia Workshop. The event was lead by Pankaj Deo, Bijay Chaurasia, Sanjog Dev and Kiran Kumar Sah.

The third Wikipedia Awareness Program was conducted on 26 July, 2023 in Kshitiz Educational Foundation, Rajbiraj. The college management collectively gathered the students of all sections of BBA to aware them about Wikipedia. In total, we have around 130 students in the class. We have provided a form sheet to the students and told them to fill the form with their contact details, if they are interested to join our free Wikipedia Workshop. The event was lead by Biplab Anand, Pankaj Deo, Sanjog Dev and Kiran Kumar Sah.

The fourth Wikipedia Awareness Program was conducted on 27 July, 2023 in Kshitiz Educational Foundation, Rajbiraj. We have decided to took class specifically because it will help us to understand the thought process of students as well as we can connect them easily. Thus, we chose students of class 12 Management and provided them a form sheet and told them to fill the form with their contact details, if they are interested to join our free Wikipedia Workshop. The event was lead by Biplab Anand and Kiran Kumar Sah.
