MediaWiki talk:Userrights-summary
Length
editThis explanation is rather long. And it's bureaucrat-centric. Most of the users of this special page are quite probably stewards and this long text, albeit informative, makes people scroll to get to the text field. Is it really necessary to include this text? Maybe just a link or two to the instructions for b'crats, stews. That would, IMO, be enough. Thanks --FiLiP ¤ 00:14, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
- Could a table of contents be put on there? Majorly (talk) 00:16, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
- Why don't we use a show/hide div to keep it all collapsed most of the time? Stewards are not the only users, now that we've switched away from the specific makesysop and makebot pages., I don't think a TOC would necessarily help much, though. (It would give you a way to get to the bottom faster but it would still be a click.) On the other hand making a subpage and linking to it would work too. ++Lar: t/c 00:19, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
- Collapsed view is also fine by me. As long as the view doesn't take too much screen space :) --FiLiP ¤ 07:55, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
- See what you think now. It takes up about 4 lines of space collapsed (because I put ---- lines in to make it format a bit nicer) It all fits on my screen but I run fairly big... The basic idea is to use a collapsible table, and that's working now, so if you still think it takes too much space, feel free to hide more stuff or whatever... ++Lar: t/c 19:57, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
- It's much better now Lar, thanks. :) --FiLiP ¤ 21:00, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Ping : Can I add a translation? BLACKPINKIn your area 16:16, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
- You can fork the entire page to a sandbox, translate it, then ask for it to be moved when ready. Keep in mind the audience for these directions are only admins, etc - who likely have their interface in English as it is the default for metawiki. — xaosflux Talk 17:58, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
@Xaosflux: I forked it to my subpage. My question is to translate this message, should I use the {{int:lang{{#switch}}}}
method or translate it directly into the source code? Tryvix1509Discussion 15:56, 27 November 2022 (UTC)
- Because this is an entire localized customized message, assuming you want the translation to also be an entire localized custom message, just do a normal page, and request it be moved to the /xx language subpage of this message. — xaosflux Talk 12:49, 23 August 2024 (UTC)
