I'm requesting adminship on meta to assist with fixing problems and responding to requests concerning (among others) the Spam blacklist, the Interwiki map, and globally-used templates. For the last few months, I've simply been nagging User:Eagle 101 whenever I need something done, but I believe it would certainly be more effective (and less likely to cause him annoyance :D) if I could handle these things myself. Thank you for your consideration. AmiDaniel 04:46, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

- Completely trusted user as far as I am concerned.
However I am going Neutral here. I see no recent work on en wp blacklist nor on the blacklist talk page here and I would have thought that was a prerequisite for wanting more rights related to that?--Herby talk thyme 07:48, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]- Hi Herby, indeed I haven't done any work on the local blacklist/whitelist on enwiki, and indeed "work" is likely the wrong word for what I would be doing with the spam blacklist here. In the last few months I've fielded many, many complaints about malfunctions with the blacklist (most wind up on IRC in the #wikimedia-tech channel), many resulting from broken regex's that blacklist too many (or in some cases, all) external links, and have had to hunt down meta admins to help to resolve these problems. I presume that, with sysop rights here, I would continue this trend of fielding complaints, but would fix them here rather than trying to hunt down someone else who can. For some reason, I tend to be far less a contributor than a problem fixer (of my edits on Wikipedia, very, very few have anything to do with writing encyclopedia articles), and I would likely continue this role on meta. Indeed you are correct that it is a bit presumptuous and ill-advised to decide to mess with the meta blacklist -- the blacklist shared by all wikimedia wikis -- before even working with one on a local project; however, I would note that I have considerable knowledge in working with the SpamBlacklist extension, having assisted many users of both Wikimedia and non-Wikimedia wikis to configure it and use it appropriately. Anyway, thank you for comment, and I will certainly consider working on enwiki's blacklist before touching the one on meta. AmiDaniel 08:24, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- I sincerely appreciate the thoughtful response. I'll go think too, my vote may well be reviewed! --Herby talk thyme 08:39, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
