Meta:Requests for bot status/FischBot
- The following discussion is preserved as an archive of a closed Meta-Wiki request. Please do not modify it.
The FischBot is flagged on Wikidata and de.Wikiversity executing different tasks. To generate lists of inactive advanced administrative rights holders who had no since two years. It will only edit in it's own user namespace. --Pyfisch (talk) 18:25, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- How many edits are you anticipating the bot making? I'm not sure a bot flag is strictly necessary for this task, but if the edit rate is prone to flooding RC, no objections to flagging. Courcelles 03:01, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Support flagging. Courcelles 19:22, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- I think that this bot unnecessary, but if it continues to make edits, it should get a bot flag in order not to flood the RC (which it did already). Pages like User:FischBot/inactive/wikibooks/ku/oversight and User:FischBot/inactive/wikibooks/ku/checkuser are of utter uselessness, since few projects ever had OS or CU. --MF-W 03:13, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Since it is running, might as well give it the flag to keep it out of the RC. Ajraddatz (Talk) 03:31, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- It should only create pages when an "inactive advanced administrative rights holder" is actually found, and it should try to make "cumulative" edits when possible. --Ricordisamoa 23:43, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Wikimedia has today arround 700 wikis, for each wiki the bots does at least one edit to create a report for the complete wiki. That means that the bot will make 700 edits the first run plus edits to create user group pages if there is at least one inactive user. I expect that the bot will do 2100 edits every 6 month. I changed the bot so that it does not create empty pages like User:FischBot/inactive/wikibooks/ku/checkuser anymore, so the edit number should be smaller. --Pyfisch (talk) 09:51, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- I find the bot very useful for the admin inactivity review and I'd like to thank Pyfisch to run the service. I have no objections on giving a bot flag. -- MarcoAurelio (talk) 13:25, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- I likewise see no reason not to grant the flag, especially given it only edits in its own userspace so it hardly has even the potential to damage anything. Snowolf How can I help? 13:47, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Question - Will you also generate lists of inactive users for the other projects (wikipedia, etc.)? -- MarcoAurelio (talk) 13:25, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- The Wikibooks list were only a trial. I will generate lists for all Wikimedia projects. Also Wikipedia of course. --Pyfisch (talk) 13:39, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Support, although it might be better for stewards to check right before they do the removal (in case someone just became either inactive or active). PiRSquared17 (talk) 02:43, 19 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Stewards should, and I hope do, always manually check before taking any action. This goes for global blocks, global locks, userrights, etc.. Snowolf How can I help? 13:50, 20 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Approved for this task and only allowed to run in its userspace. Bot flag granted. -Barras talk 20:18, 21 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
