Hi. I'm a sysop and bureaucrat in Azerbaijani Wikipedia and also a Board member of Azerbaijani Wikimedians User Group. I constantly have to translate both the administrative pages in Meta-Wiki and various other pages. I'm also an active translator and editor of Meta-Wiki content in different languages and actively follow updated translations. I'm familiar with mw:Help:Extension:Translate/Page translation administration page. Thanks in advance! --eldarado (talk | contributions | meta page) 10:25, 2 August 2022 (UTC)

- Please prepare a page for translation and link it here, in order we can review whether you well know how to do it. --Pols12 (talk) 23:34, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
- Yes @AlPaD: you can review this page. --eldarado (talk | contributions | meta page) 11:35, 4 August 2022 (UTC)

- @Eldarado, they are several issues in your markup, can you fix them, please? I advise you to read our internationalization guidelines before.
- I think it is safe to exclude attention-bringing syntax (
'''
) from translation unit (this is not safe for idiomatic-text (''
) for Korean language, but I’m not sure for attention-bringing). - You should not manually add unit markers (
<!--T:2-->
), they are automatically handled. - You should not close a translate tag before opening a new one: an empty new line allow to automatically segment the units.
- You should add an empty new line after each heading to ensure they will be alone as translation units.
- You should prefix link targets with “Special:MyLanguage/” and wrap the target in a tvar.
- You should avoid to include HTML tags inside translation units. If this is needed, you should try to ensure they are balanced (including the closing tag if the opening tag is included and vice versa).
- You should split tables to get one unit per cell.
- You should wrap icon images and usernames inside tvars.
- I think it is safe to exclude attention-bringing syntax (

- Yes @Camouflaged Mirage: I tagged wrong, thanks. @Pols12: thank you for your help. I already updated it. --eldarado (talk | contributions | meta page) 07:08, 8 August 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for the improvements, however their still are some issues:
- It is useless to close a translate tag before opening a new one for distinct paragraphs.
- The comma
,
andand
word are not universal, they should be localizable (you may eventually use {{list}} template). People real names may be transliterated. If your page is likely translatable in Arabic (or other target language with non-latin script), you should allow translator to localize them. - Names of tvar as link target are usually digits (quick to copy in most language), they don’t need to be informative since the display text is the descriptive part of the link.
- Tvar names must be unique inside their own unit, but each unit can reuse the same tvar names (so the name “1” is the most common).

- Support Trusted user. I think there is a need for an translation admin who knows the Azerbaijani language. It is better if he asks and learns about the issues he does not know. Regards,--Turkmen talk 10:58, 10 August 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose per Pols12. Also, this is yet another self-directed translation admin request and the languages a translation admin speaks are irrelevant since the role is a technical one rather than a linguistic one. * Pppery * it has begun 19:03, 11 August 2022 (UTC)
- (Though knowing multiple languages is certainly beneficial for translation administration, since that will usually make it natural to use appropriately flexible translation markup.) ~~~~

- Support Altough I do not see a real need for this user right in this case, we really do need more translation admins. I think Eldarado has noticed their mistakes. --Ameisenigel (talk) 15:48, 12 August 2022 (UTC)

- I was able to get back here a bit late for the Wikimania festival. Thank you all for your approach. I think there is no more dark moment for me. I spend a certain amount of time on the wiki during the day and am ready to contribute as a translator admin. --eldarado (talk | contributions | meta page) 13:47, 15 August 2022 (UTC)
