I am a volunteer for the Chinese Wikipedia and am currently working with Wikimedia Taiwan. Sometimes I assist in creating meta pages, such as updates for Wikipedia Asian Month with Joycewikiwiki (primarily providing minor technical support). Regarding the translation of the page, I am not sure if the current this being updated can be used as proof. Thank you very much! --NHC、才不是NPC呢哼!。:.゚ヽ(*´∀`)ノ゚.:。 06:38, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi all, I would like to give my support to @NHCbecome translation admin, so that we could work together more smoothly. We are currently working on the campaing page of Wikipedia Asian Month. I will assist her with tutorial and prepare a marked translation page! Joycewikiwiki (talk) 02:10, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It is not especially related to internationalization, but you should avoid tables and minimize inline CSS (style attribute) in order to improve accessibility and to get a more readable wikitext (allowing indirectly a cleaner Translate markup). For the same reasons, please only add an empty new line to create a new paragraph rather than adding <br>.
Can you prepare another content page for translation, e.g. Wikipedia Asian Month 2023, please? -- Pols12 (talk) 13:48, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I learned a lot from your editing, thanks for helping with optimization!!

There are two things that should be changed: Please add a blank line after each section header. This will split the header and the text in two different translation units. Please also separate the items in the list by adding translate tags for each item of the list instead of having the complete list as one translation unit. --Ameisenigel (talk) 06:29, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I have added a new blank line after the section header in the new edit. Thanks for reminding me of the details. But there are no more than 160 words in the list, and no more than eight lines, so I chose to treat it as an entire translation unit. But if it's better to split it up then that's what I'll do.--NHC、才不是NPC呢哼!。:.゚ヽ(*´∀`)ノ゚.:。 13:23, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There are a few useless translate tags now (new translation units are automatically created after a blank line, there is no need to close one translate tag before and open a new one after it), but in general markup looks. Hence I Support Support --Ameisenigel (talk) 14:28, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@NHC, please fix the following issues:
  • As Ameisenigel said, there are useless translate tags you should remove. I.e. don’t close a translate tag before opening a new one after an empty line (except for inline translate tags, e.g. in lists), because the empty line automatically creates a new unit.
  • You should wrap tvar names inside double quotes ", especially if they contain white spaces. A better solution is to use digits (e.g. 1) as tvar names, because they are quick to type and less likely wrongly localized. Also, if you expect the Wikipedia link to be localized (i.e. translators use their local Wikipedia rather than English one), you should not wrap it inside tvar (but you may prefer all readers get the same reference link; your choice).
