Meta:Requests for translation adminship/Robertsky

The following discussion is preserved as an archive of a closed Meta-Wiki request. Please do not modify it.

I wish to help get ESEAP Hub-related (and also Singapore user group-related, when activity picks up) pages ready for translation . I have read the Meta translation administrator page and Meta’s page about translate extension documentations, and have also done translation admin work at the Wikimania wiki for Wikimania 2023. --Robertsky (talk) 10:57, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Robertsky, I noted some issues with headings (not isolated) and the lack of tvar in your edits on Wikidata Wikimania wiki. Can you review our local internationalization guidelines, then prepare properly a page for translation on Meta-Wiki in order we ensure you well know them, please? -- Pols12 (talk) 17:15, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Pols12, I don't focus on Wikidata editing. Despite the high edit count, most of my edits on wikidata are automated through the editing done on English Wikipedia. Many of the manual edits done are to add new articles approved from the draftspace in enwiki to existing wikidata items. Is there something there that I should take note of? With regards to preparing a page on metawiki, I can only queue that for this weekend. Thanks for understanding. Robertsky (talk) 17:55, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
My bad, I meant “Wikimania”, not Wikidata. --Pols12 (talk) 18:31, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies for the delay. Real life kept me busy. On this now. Robertsky (talk) 15:40, 5 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Pols12, I have prepared Wikimedians of Singapore User Group (and Wikimedians of Singapore User Group/members, might as well do so at the same time) for your purview. Robertsky (talk) 13:36, 6 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank @you, it is pretty fine. Some improvements can be done though:
  • You should use digits for tvar names as link target; they are much easier to type for translators and limit confusion about whether they should be translated. (Note you can reuse the same name, e.g. common "1", through units, as soon as it is unique per unit.)
  • You should add an empty line after the heading “Objectives & goals” to make it its own unit; that allows anchored link to sections through translation pages.
  • You cannot use relative paths for links and transclusion (/members), since from translation pages, that would try to transclude /lang/members (e.g. /zh/members for Chinese); we have to use absolute paths.
Can you fix these issues, please? -- Pols12 (talk) 14:52, 6 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Pols12 have fixed per your feedback. Robertsky (talk) 15:32, 6 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don’t notice any more issue, thank you.
