Our proposed prioritisation: Identify Topics for Impact (Recommendation 8)
editPart 2 of 2 - Prioritization
editQ1. Which recommendations will respond to your community’s needs?[1]
Choose Your Top Priorities | Why is it prioritized? |
---|---|
1. Identify Topics for Impact (Recommendation 8) | This is the 'natural fit' for our user group's priority. The main goal of our group is to identify and fill holes in Wikipedia's coverage of the Sustainable Development Goals, which by definition are a high-impact topic |
Q2.From the recommendations, which specific actions and changes would you want prioritized in 2021?[2]
Choose Your Top Priorities | Why is it prioritized? |
---|---|
1. 8–37–A "List of high-impact topics" | The Sustainable Development Goals are by definition a high-impact topic, and collectively, we have, or can get, the expertise to make useful lists.
|
2. 8–37–B "Bridging content gaps" | Coordinating efforts to bridge the content gaps has been the main goal of our group since we started. Collectively we have, or can get, the expertise to bridge those content gaps.
|
3. 8–36–C "Identifying impactful topics" | The Sustainable Development Goals are by definition a high-impact topic, and as a user group we have already identified it as a useful framework to work from.
|
Q3. What human capacity and / or financial resources do you need to work on implementation?
We can continue to work as we have done so far, mainly coordinating efforts in other affiliates and initiatives by individual community members. But it is worth exploring developing this group to a more formal body which over time can do more coordinated efforts by itself.
Q4. Which initiatives do you think should be the top focus for global coordination?
For 2021, a global calendar of events would increase all affiliate's, and especially our user group's, ability to highlight and surface important events. A database of ongoing projects in the movement would also be hugely helpful. Both of these resides in recommendation 7. Manage Internal Knowledge.
Notes
edit- ↑ There are 10 recommendations to choose from. Think of the work you’re already doing in your community and what else you want to do. At the same time, think of the whole Wikimedia movement and what we should prioritize globally to face the future.
- ↑ Think about the initiatives that will respond to your community’s needs. Each of the 10 recommendations has multiple changes and actions or initiatives. There are 45 all together.
