WikiConference North America 2021

WikiConference North America (WCNA) is the annual conference of Wikimedia enthusiasts and volunteers throughout the continent. WikiConference North America 2021 took place virtually from October 8-10, 2021. The theme for the year's conference was online, multi-lingual and multi-local.

A number of Ohio Wikimedians were in attendance, with Ohio Wikimedian Kevin Payravi helping organize. The Ohio Wikimedians were also present at the North American community round-up.

Ohio Women on Wikipedia Edit-a-thon 2022

Hamaxides of the Cleveland Public Library organized an Ohio Women on Wikipedia Edit-a-thon 2022, taking place March 26 through April 2, 2022 as part of Women's History Month. The Ohio Center for the Book at Cleveland Public Library, in collaboration with the State Library of Ohio, encouraged people to add information about Ohio women to Wikipedia to celebrate their contributions to the cultural and social life of our state and country.

The event dashboard is available here. Two articles were created, including an article on Nellie Craig Walker, a school teacher, business owner, and the first African-American student to graduate from Miami University in Ohio. Numerous other articles were also edited and expanded.

Cleveland American Chemical Society Education Night

Kevin Payravi was invited to the Cleveland chapter of the American Chemical Society to present a session during an education night on April 27, 2022. The session included an introduction to Wikipedia and editing, with a focus on chemistry-related articles.
