Open Knowledge Development Initiative (OKDI) is a group of Wikimedia Volunteer editors who are keen to increase and promote the visibility of African contents on Wikipedia and its sisters projects by focusing on the underrepresented categories.
Objectives
edit- To increase the visibility of African scientists and academics through the the Wiki Afrodemics Project
- To train PWDs on the use Wikipedia and its sisters projects by people with disabilities My Ability with Disability Wikipedia Project
- To document notable PWDs on Wikipedia and its sisters projects
- To partner with organizations and bodies involved in African academics and scientists towards showcasing its resources.
- To collaborate with organisations and bodies involved PWDs towards their training and documentations

edit- Done September - October (2022) Wikimedia Promotions in Federal University Kashere: The Project aimed at closing the knowledge that exists in Nigerian Universities by training students and staff of the university on how to contribute to Wikipedia and its sisters projects.
- Done Wikipedia Awareness In Akko: The Project aimed at creating awareness and training of volunteers in Akko comunity
- Done May-June (2022) Wikimedia Promotions in Federal Polytechnic Kaltungo: The project not only trained staff and students of the institution but also created a Wiki Community.
- Done July and August 2023 Wikimedia Awareness in Pen Resource University
- Done November - December, 2023 Wiki Loves Afrodemics 2023: The Project aimed at editing and creating articles for African Academics and Scientists.
