- Talk:WikiLyrics
- The problem here would be that the lyrics are under various copyrights. Putting it into a wiki does nothing to change the copy-written status of the songs. EVula // talk // 18:08, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
- I was going to say the same thing, but was waiting for the proposal page to get created. In a very prominent case a few years ago, the wildly popular lyrics.ch was offering a rather complete database of lyrics for free, ran into legal trouble from many prominent artists and labels, and was forced to change the site significantly, to the point that it was barely usable. It eventually went under and is completely dead now. 18:15, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

I know that there are already existing projects or proposals looking close to this proposal :
- Proposals_for_new_projects#WikiTravel : unfortunately not dealing with the way of life (for people that would migrate or live for a certain time into the country) ;
- [1] not GFDL'd and not run by The Wikipedia Foundation (User:Roberth and User:Rschen7754) : Is this a problem ?. Nevertheless, I never found it before coming on Wikimedia (that's an issue). Moreover, most of the articles have a lack of data relating the cost of life, the examples of prices (as well for travalers - tips, stamps, tickets, etc - , as for living in - 1l of milk, furnitures for babies, benzine, food; housiing, etc.
To summarise : this proposal focuses on pratical issues and may refer to misc. projects or international sources as necessary.

- There is already a wap version of Wikipedia, at
languagecode.wap.wikipedia.org
, see e.g. http://en.wap.wikipedia.org/transcode.php?go=Project:WAP_access --Purodha Blissenbach 10:02, 1 April 2008 (UTC) - Based on the hawpedia, there is a service that reads articles via a speech generator. Follow the appropriate links on http://hawpedia.mobi/ and http://www.hawhaw.de/hawpedia/info/en/ --Purodha Blissenbach 10:02, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
- There's clearly need for a human-generated article-summary project, however... see MobileWiki.

For any article/page/discussion/and so forth that is not vandalism, slander libel, spam, or a copyright violation that would otherwise be deleted, instead of deletion, the good faith contribution is moved to this wiki and stored for reference or later use. Currently, only admins can view deleted articles. It seems that as long as there was nothing illegal or bad faith about the article, there is no reason others should not be able to use it or fork it.

- WikiRecycle ...
- Domain name
- wikirecycle.org
- Scope
- all good faith contributions of content outside the scope of any other easily accessed wiki
- Details
- see Wikirecycle
- Comments
- This exists at wikiasite:annex.
- It is run by Wikia, not Wikimedia, it does not actually seem to have the scope of every article that has gained the consensus of delete on AfD and other equivalent areas on other Wikimedia projects (the site, Annex reads, "Wikipedia fiction and fiction-related articles that are too detailed, minor, or trivial for Wikipedia can be kept until they find a new home"), and it certainly doesn't seem to be standard practice to transwiki to be deleted articles there.
Might this be appropriate for Wikiincubator?

Individuals/groups can create pages promoting their website/business/product/service/want/need/and so forth. People can post any URL with a description, as long as it is in an organized fashion in line with the consensus of the community. It would hopefully be rather organized. Items could be removed with consensus of the community.

- Adswiki
- Domain name
- http://adswiki.org/wiki/Main_Page (currently up)
- Scope
- Anything anyone wanted to post. There could be lists of websites organized in a meaningful, useful fashion, etc. Advertising illegal products and services would not be allowed. Fraud would not be allowed.
- Details
- see Adswiki
- Comments
- Knowing what people and organizations want and need would seem to qualify as knowledge; so in that way it seems this project may not be outside the scope of the Wikimedia Foundation's vision ("a world in which every single human being can freely share in the sum of all knowledge") and I know of no current project that this sort of content would be appropriate.

Proposers | User:Vmandrilly - vmandrilly at hotmail.com (August 10, 2007). Mailing list request: |
Overview | Unlike almost all the projects here, this project is not about special contents that couldn't be included into wikipedia. The purpose is to adapt the magic of wiki philosophy and software (a powerfull cooperation online tool, which is used for building knowledge) to make it a powerfull cooperation online in organizing : to allow constructive debates and democratically based decision making. It would be a very usefull tool for all association/organisation/working group/etc, and of course could therefore be helpfull for wikimedia community in organising its debates, votes, and elections. - Note : I need support of the foundation because it is not just a question to add new contents on a new subject (in which case I'd just add contents to wikipedia or build my own wiki, it is a project that needs coding, and that could be used by the whole society and virtually any group of people. This project could benefit from add-ons made for votes/pools or debates.

Overview | Wikipubs seeks to provide a source for the sharing of information relating to pubs, clubs, bars and festivals throughout the world. It will achieve this by encouraging users to post information, stories, anecdotes and reviews of their local pubs, clubs, bars and festivals. Wikipubs will also encourage discussion on pubs, clubs, bars and festivals between patrons of these establishments. Thus building a database for users to refer to when planning an enjoyable night out. Demos: http://wikipubs.org |
