Report and Analysis
editHighlights:
- Brainstorming & Project review session
- Training session
- Edit-a-thon
- Wiki Loves Wild Flower presentation & discussion.
The main objective of this event was to organize a gathering of some old and experienced wikimedians by which we can discuss our local/regional issues and future plan or activities. Apart from it, a few newbies also joined us on the event which was Jaspreet Singh, Sukh Cheema, Abrose Gill, Gurnoor Ghuman (uploaded media files on Wikimedia Commons but new on Wikipedia), Tamanpreet Kaur (Wikisource editor but learned how to edit Wikipedia). One of our experienced editors, Satpal Dandiwal couldn't come to the venue but he contributed to the edit-a-thon from his place on the same days. One special guest, Varinder Sharma came to us and presented his research and shared his photography experience of some rare wildflowers. After presenting the project Punjabi Wikimedians proposed the project to A2K for documenting the Wild Flowers.
The program started on the first day with a formal welcome address by User:Nitesh Gill. The first half an hour was an introductory session as a ritual of Wikimedia. After the introductory session, there was a training session. Out of the total participants, there were some new Wikipedians in the program to be aware of Wikimedia and Wikipedia & train them in the editing process.
In parallel, participants continued to edit articles related to all other women. After lunch, Satdeep Gill introduced Wikisource and taught new users the importance of Wikisource and how to do basic editing and proofreading on it. After introducing Wikisource, all the participants started editing on Wikisource as well. Two participants User:Rajdeep ghuman and User:Gill jassu learned about the transclude the books.
As the last activity of the day, we all gathered in a closed room to plan the future work, brainstorm & review the Project and activities of Punjabi Wikimedians. It was decided that we definitely need an annual plan to make this whole plan a reality. The meeting was attended by all veteran Wikimedians User:Charan Gill, User:Satdeep Gill, User:Manavpreet Kaur, User:Nitesh Gill, User:Gaurav Jhammat, User:Jagseer S Sidhu, User:Jagvir Kaur and User:FromPunjab
