Punjabi Wikimedians/Events/ Women-focused-one-day Edit-a-thon 2024
The Punjabi Wikimedians User Group has proposed an activity under the She Leads program, which is facilitated by CIS-A2K and runs from March 1st. In collaboration with CIS-A2K, community members are organizing a one-day event aimed at recruiting both new and existing Wikimedians. Additionally, the Punjabi Community will participate in the Feminism and Folklore campaign, as in previous years. This in-person activity, supported by A2K, will focus on creating articles related to Feminism and Folklore. Through this initiative, we aim to introduce newcomers to these campaigns and emphasize their importance.
Objective
editOur objective is to raise awareness among people, recruit new participants, create and enhance female-related content, and foster collaborative participation in the activity.

editOn March 17, 2024, a "Women-Focused One Day Edit-a-thon 2024" related to Women’s Month was held in Patiala. Both new and experienced participants, with a significant presence of women, took part in this edit-a-thon. The event began with an introduction session where all participants got to know each other, followed by an explanation of the "Women Focused One Day Edit-a-thon" related to Women’s Month. The session was initiated by Gill Jassu and Dugal harpreet. Nitesh Gill from A2K provided information about the She Leads program. Participants were then guided on editing articles related to women on Wikipedia, correcting and expanding articles, and the key considerations when creating new articles. They were encouraged to start editing articles during the session. Experienced users were tasked with creating two new articles, while new users were asked to create one new article and expand another. The experienced users assisted the new participants in creating and editing articles.
