The Queering Wikipedia 2025 Conference seeks to unite LGBTQ+ communities worldwide through Wikimedia.

The primary goal of the conference is to bring together LGBTQ+ individuals and allies to share ideas, experiences, and knowledge. Through Wikimedia tools, we aim to strengthen global connections within the LGBTQ+ community.

The Queering Wikipedia (QW) initiative began in 2019, with plans to hold its first global conference in 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event transitioned online. To maintain community engagement, the QW Working Days were launched in 2021.

The QW2023 Conference was a significant success, offering a fully hybrid experience that allowed global participation, making it more inclusive and accessible for all.

QW2025 will continue to focus on creating welcoming and inclusive events for everyone. We will leverage a range of technologies and tools to ensure that both online and in-person activities are accessible to a diverse audience, fostering an environment where all voices are heard, regardless of geography, culture, or background.

Building on the success of local nodes in QW2023, the initiative will return for QW2025 to promote, connect, and strengthen local participation in the Wikimedia Queer Community. Following the achievements of QW2023’s local nodes, we aim to expand and create even more impactful and positive experiences in the upcoming edition.
