Requests for comment/Sysop (Diego Grez) abuse on Scots Wikipedia

The following request for comments is closed. This appears to be a local matter. Local conflict-resolution mechanisms were apparently not used in this particular matter.

Brief summary of the incident

edit

User:Diego Grez is currently promoting his own private website on several sister projects, and on English Wikipedia he has a long history of sock puppetry and was previously permanently blocked. Anyway, on Scots Wikipedia several users have been questioning the notability of El Marino, a so-called newspaper run by User:Diego Grez himself. Grez blocked one of the users, with accusations of sock puppetry. After being warned by User:Yger, Diego Grez unblocked the user. [1]

After this, Diego Grez once again removed the notability template [2] (note the strange edit summary). And when I put the template back, Diego Grez simply reverted my edit and fully protected the article. [3] Mind you, the sysop Diego Grez protected an article about his very own private website. I would say that Diego Grez is abusing his sysop privileges. Ferrotomb (talk) 15:27, 17 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I would think that it would be more appropriate to have this conversation at scoWP where the local community, including local admins, can discuss in context and fully about a member of that community. I would agree that any admin with a CoI should not be protecting such articles, though the comment that disputes should be discussed on the talk page is equally valid.  — billinghurst sDrewth 22:18, 17 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Ferrotomb is exaggerating things. This should have been discussing on the Scots Wiki before them taking this here. I blocked Le Lapin because I thought it was a sockpuppet of Ferrotomb, Yger indeed asked me to unblock, I asked them to provide proof they weren't Ferrotomb, they didn't but I unblocked anyway, after investigating some more on these users. As for the protection of the article, I asked them to discuss stuff on the talk page, while protecting it for three days, due to constant edit warring between me and them. Ferrotomb is not willing to discuss (assuming good faith) anything, an example is that when he says I have "a long history of sock puppetry and was previously permanently blocked", but completely ignoring my later contributions, such as several good articles and featured lists on the wikis I was blocked (es and en), a former admin on Wikinews with several featured articles after the 2010 earthquake, a translator with admin tools on MediaWiki and so on. I can only say I have acted on good faith, and have never said I am not linked to El Marino, on the contrary, I have been more than willing to collaborate respecting local rules. I hope not to have been too confusing with this. And this is my only comment here, you'll understand this is an exaggeration from Tomb's side. --Diego Grez return fire 01:40, 18 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
An exaggeration? The evidence is all there. Ferrotomb (talk) 18:32, 20 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
