This language has been verified as eligible. The language is eligible for a project, which means that the subdomain can be created once there is an active community and a localized interface, as described in the language proposal policy. You can discuss the creation of this language project on this page. Once the criteria are met, the language committee can proceed with the approval and will verify the test project content with a reliable neutral source, such as a professor or expert. If you think the criteria are met, but the project is still waiting for approval, feel free to notify the committee and ask them to consider its approval. |
- The community needs to develop an active test project; it must remain active until approval (automated statistics, recent changes). It is generally considered active if the analysis lists at least three active, not-grayed-out editors listed in the sections for the previous few months.
- The community needs to complete required MediaWiki interface translations in that language (about localization, translatewiki, check completion).
- The community needs to discuss and complete the settings table below:
What | Value | Example / Explanation |
---|
Proposal | ||

Language name | Bakhtiari | Language name in English |
Language name | بختياري | Language name in your language. This will appear in the language list on Special:Preferences, in the interwiki sidebar on other wikis, ... |
Language Wikidata item | Q257829 - item has currently the following values:
|
Item about the language at Wikidata. It would normally include the Wikimedia language code, name of the language, etc. Please complete at Wikidata if needed. |
Directionality | RTL | Is the language written from left to right (LTR) or from right to left (RTL)? |
Links | [1], [2], [3], [4], [5] | Links to previous requests, or references to external websites or documents. |
Site URL | bqi.wikipedia.org | langcode.wikiproject.org |
Settings | ||
---|---|---|
Project name | "Wikipedia" in your language | |
Project namespace | usually the same as the project name | |
Project talk namespace | "Wikipedia talk" (the discussion namespace of the project namespace) | |
Enable uploads | no | Default is "no". Preferably, files should be uploaded to Commons. If you want, you can enable local file uploading, either by any user ("yes") or by administrators only ("admin").
Notes: (1) This setting can be changed afterwards. The setting can only be "yes" or "admin" at approval if the test creates an Exemption Doctrine Policy (EDP) first. (2) Files on Commons can be used on all Wikis. (3) Uploading fair-use images is not allowed on Commons (more info). (4) Localisation to your language may be insufficient on Commons. |
Optional settings | ||
Project logo | This needs to be an SVG image (instructions for logo creation). | |
Default project timezone | Continent/City | "Continent/City", e.g. "Europe/Brussels" or "America/Mexico City" (see list of valid timezones) |
Additional namespaces | For example, a Wikisource would need "Page", "Page talk", "Index", "Index talk", "Author", "Author talk". | |
Additional settings | Anything else that should be set | |
Discussion
Arguments in favour
- Support Support Yes, this is an Iranian language of Lori branch, not a Persian dialect (ethnologue code: bqi). Claiming that it is a Persian dialect is wrong. Speakers of this language are willing to create this Wikipedia, then they should be given this opportunity. I have one more recommendation, There should be a Lori Wikipedia, which will include all the dialects of Lori besides Bakhtaria. --Maviulke12 05:35, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

Arguments against
- Oppose OpposeBakhtiary is a dialect of Lurish language, so no!
- Oppose Oppose Sorry but i myself as person who lives in iran i really don't think bakhtiary is language it is just part persian accent! --Mardetanha talk 08:45, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
- When you meet Bakthiari who speak among themselves, you are unlikely to understand them.. GerardM 17:47, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
- Oppose OPPOSE Are we really going to have a wiki project for every language and accent in the world? Because if so, Wikimedia wikis will get twice in number, just to cover all languages spoken in Africa. I'm not a specialist in linguistics, but as far as I know, Bakhtiari is more of an accent of Lurish language than a separate language, and it is being spoken by a very little proportion of people, who all are Lurish and use it as their native language. Huji 10:15, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
- Oppose OPPOSE Bakhtiyari is a dialect of Luri with more influence by Persian. There is not much special vocabulary and written tradition to support an encyclopaedia in this dialect.--Mani1 22:31, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- Bakthiari is a language, it does not help call it a dialect. Also, there is already a status of eligible.. GerardM 17:46, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
- Oppose Oppose It has a small population. Bodhdharma (talk) 11:32, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose Oppose baghtiari is not a language and is a dialect of luri like laki and feyli.this is not a good idea to make a bakhtiari Wikipedia . the bakhtiaris says we are lur not Persian not kurd also laks and feylis--Ali saki lorestani (talk) 15:02, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose Oppose Bakhtiari is a dialect of Lurish language and its not language. and its better for Lur people to concentrate and work on one wikipedia.--Pirsharafshah (talk) 15:02, 11 September 2016 (UTC)

Hoi, there are at the moment no articles of sufficient size. Consequently we cannot even ask someone to confirm that you write indeed in Bakhtiari. Thanks, GerardM 11:51, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
The Incubator texts are not in Bakhtiari
I have had a look at the texts in the Incubator with some Bakhtiari friends of mine. All the texts are written in Persian. Consequently this text could be part of the fa.wikipedia. A Bakthiari Wikipedia needs to be only in Bakhtiari. Consequently, this request would be / should be rejected. Thanks, GerardM 16:09, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

Localisation update
This is the Bakthiari portal, the required localisation is currently at 41,65% of the "most used messages". The localisation of these messages is required in order to help readers of your language once the project goes life. Thanks, GerardM 09:44, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
the required localisation is currently at 100% of the "most used messages". --Behdarvandyani 13:29, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
- Currently 100.00% of the most used MediaWiki messages have been localised. Localisation of these messages is a requirement before your request is finally assessed. This is the recent localisation activity for your language. Thanks, GerardM 11:41, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
