This language has been verified as eligible. The language is eligible for a project, which means that the subdomain can be created once there is an active community and a localized interface, as described in the language proposal policy. You can discuss the creation of this language project on this page. Once the criteria are met, the language committee can proceed with the approval and will verify the test project content with a reliable neutral source, such as a professor or expert. If you think the criteria are met, but the project is still waiting for approval, feel free to notify the committee and ask them to consider its approval.A committee member provided the following comment: |
- The community needs to develop an active test project; it must remain active until approval (automated statistics, recent changes). It is generally considered active if the analysis lists at least three active, not-grayed-out editors listed in the sections for the previous few months.
- The community needs to complete required MediaWiki interface translations in that language (about localization, translatewiki, check completion).
- The community needs to discuss and complete the settings table below:

Proposal
editThe Dimasa language is one of the oldest languages spoken in North East India, particularly in Assam. The Dimasa language is one of the last languages of North East India to retain its original vocabulary without being compromised by foreign languages.
Dimasa language has a well defined Grammar and Dictionary and has wide usage, Dimasa Grammar by Prof. François Jacquesson, Dimasa Dictionary by Shri Mani Charan Barman.
Dimasa language is spoken by around 111,000 people in North-East India, though it is often written in the Roman script and one of the living languages of North-East India.
The Bhagawat Gita, the Ramayana and the Bible have been translated into Dimasa language, and Radio programs and television programs are broadcasted in Dimasa language. It also has separate dictionary and many books have been written in the Dimasa language. The literature of this language has been encriched with short stories, tales, drama, poetry, novels, biographies, essays, travelogues etc. Newspapers are also available in the Dimasa language. "Haflong Khurang" is one such influential weekly newspaper published in the Dimasa language from Haflong. Therefore this language deserves a Wikipedia domain.
