English written in Devanagari script.
veracity of this request is doubted by many
- Comments:
- Indian English is normally written in Latin script; it refers to a spectrum of local variants of English, some of which are at least as well-established and divergent from the UK/US normal range as, say, Scots. But they are rarely written in Indian scripts, and to specify Devanagari is a slap at all the dozens of writers of English in Bangla, Gumurkhi, Kannada, Telugu etc etc scripts. - Since this proposal doesn't meet the minimum requirements for new language requests I placed it in this section. As soon as sufficient information is provided it can, of course, be moved back to the regular new proposals section. Arbeo 12:32, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Hmmm... Arbeo, this section is for nonsensical rather than incomplete requests. You had better check the whole case out and make it apt for the normal section of this page. I tried to do so this afternoon (Central European Time) but I could not find out if English is really written in Devanagari at all. Caesarion 19:16, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Neither can I. And I don't deem it very probable that anyone speaks English and doesn`t know the Latin script but does know the Devanagari script. It's this fact together with the fact that the proposer didn't even bother to complete the template (which takes about three minutes) that makes me consider this proposal not very serious. If it is, Murtasa will certainly keep track of it and is invited to complete it. Arbeo 10:12, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

- I sincerely doubt the veracity of this request, as Murtasa's only contributions are to this page and his own userpage. I have thus commented this out (NOT removed it), if anybody believes it is serious they are welcome to un-comment-out it. --Node ue 21:10, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC) -->
- Don't support it. Indian English is a variant of British English. Nichalp 09:44, 27 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Now, can someone tell me whether English is really written in Devanagari at some time in India? If not, we should remove it at once, imo. Caesarion 12:18, 3 Jul 2005 (UTC)
- After a three week's wait I took the liberty to move this one. Call me "thought police" but I think this is an obvious case. Arbeo 7 July 2005 20:35 (UTC)
- I have an English-Hindi dictionary (put out by Oxford, no less) where the phonetic transcriptions are written in Devanagari. But frankly I have never seen connected English text of this sort except in private, jocular use. --Haruo 19:55, 24 September 2005 (UTC)
