    • for the time being, anyone interested in developing a Slovio WP can do that within Slavopedia.     • Disapprove. There is simply no need for such wiki: a slavic-speaking person can use electronic translators to read other-slavic wikipedias comfortably. Slovio is quite primitive and ugly by its nature, and very few will contribute to such wiki, as it will require for them to learn it first. It was designed for non-slavic-speakers to be able to communicate with slavs, but there is no need for it when slavic people can just as easily (or as uneasily) understand each other's native speech (especially written).       • In general, Slovio has copyright problem (such as Klingon). But, concept of Slovio is very good. For example, even I am by education slavist, it is more easy to me to read Slovio then, for example, Polish (i.e., I need a dictionary for text in Polish, but I don't need anything to read a text in Slovio). (My native language is Serbian.) If Mark Hucko in the future give Slovio in public domain, Slovio Wikipedia would have a sense. --Millosh 01:53, 8 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
        • Oppose - Speakers of east Slavic (eg Russian) and south Slavic (eg Serbian) find it much easier to read Slavio then the speakers of west Slavic languages (eg Czech, Polish) do. For example, the Slovio words "sobak" (dog), "tper" (now), "gvorit" (to speak) and "pecxen" (liver) are very similar to the Russian words "sobaka", "teper", "govorit" and "pyechen", but have different roots in the Polish, Czech and Slovak languages. And I find the whole "sx","cx", etc. scheme annoying, it should've adopted the Czech diacritics like most other Latin-script Slav languages have done (except Polish). +Hexagon1 (talk) 10:35, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
        • Milosh, I am strongly convinced that you would find it easier and more enjoyable to read machine-translated Polish Wiki-articles that ones written in (poor) Slovio. Let us discuss alternative ways of inter-Slavic cooperations at Slavopedia. We should firstly gather a stable community of Wikipedians interested in inter-slavic collaboration, and only then start thinking of doing something big like a Slovio Wikipedia. Ramir (русский)
          • You are right about community. I just thought that people agreed to start Slovio Wikipedia (at Slavopedia) and I supported this idea just because of that. However, as it was not decision, I am not in favor of this idea.       • Support. Slavic people cannot understand each other in general. I am a slavic native speaker - Czech. I can understand Slovak, but not any other Slavic language. Not even russian - and I have been learning it for 3 years in school as a child. I already forgot it (and was never able to really communicate in russian).           • Good point. I do like the idea of Slovio, it's an interesting project. But I guess practically all speakers of Slavic languages would prefer to both read and write encyclopedia articles in their native languages. Especially since we already have Wikipedias for almost every Slavic language, what would be the actual benefit of a Slovio one? <Arbeo> 14:03, 23 August 2005 (UTC)
        • Slavopedia should be given some chance to grow and to prove solid base of contributors. For me (a Czech) Slovio is only bit more readable than other Slavic languages.         • "Support". That's true that Slavic people can't understand each others. Everything sounds similar, but we don't know what that is really meaning. I'm polish native speaker and I can full understand only people from Slovakia and some part of Czech (Silesia). When I have learned Slovio, I have started to understand some other slavic languages. So, thats the best way to better communications between slavic speakers. And don't forget that we have 18 slavic languages. We need one which is easy to understand for everybody.

        • Oppose--Buzkid 00:04, 16 November 2005 (UTC) Yes, because it is a project better for Wikicities and not for Wikipedia because it is not established as a language with own ISO code of which other non-natural and artifitial language already have these code. But encourage use of it if it is useful for people who want to learn and write it, only in Wikicities community better.[reply]

There are various Slovio sites: the official Slovio.com, the Slavopedia discussion forum, the Slovio wikibook. On the official site there aren't any substantial Slovio texts. On the discussion forum there is hardly any activity: not one new message in past four weeks. And the development of the Slovio wikibooks has come to a halt. This way, having a Slovio Wikipedia is just another gimmick and not a serious attempt to create a Slovio wikipedia.

If there are Esperanto, Ido and other versions of Wikipedia in international artifictial languages, I think there should be a place for Wikipedia in Slovio.

    • Oppose -- There is a known difference between a linguoproject and a planned language. Esperanto (most of others), Ido, Interlingua IALA and few others are languages, used in real communication for several years or decades. In contrast, Slovio is relatively young, not so widely used, unstable language with not much literature in it. The best way for constructing a wiki in Slovio -- is following the steps of the Siberian language at http://www.wikicities.com/wiki/Wikicities or at your own site. - Slavik IVANOV 03:09, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
