I strongly oppose Limburgish as a language. It is a dialect. I don't mean to attack you, but I feel to many people are trying to spin local dialects into languages. (Red4tribe 18:10, 21 April 2008 (UTC))[reply]

    Limburgish is NOT a dialect. I could also make claims like Italian is a dialect of Latin... Limburgish is not a dialect because: it differs significantly from all other languages, it's the only tonal language of Europe, it still has kept 5 grammatical cases where Dutch lost them all (the 5th case is locativus, which Limburgish has developed itself -> heim (at home) heives (towards home) it has almost twice as much vowels as Dutch and has more consonants too, it's far more difficult than Dutch because of all the things said before, 50% of the verbs is IRREGULAR, it has an ISO 639-1 code (same as Italian, English etc), it's the most living minority language of the Netherlands and it's spoken in at least 4 countries. If you are interested in more, I still can tell you a 100 other things but I don't like to waste my time. no, it isn' t a dialect, you' re right. but you may develope more wikipedia. we aren' t talking about the difficulty of the grammatics (and italian isn' t a dialect of latin, do you listen today people that go to the pub and speak latin ? -_-) but about the eventuality of open a project--Ilaria 14:35, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I am a contributor in Greek Wikiversity. In my opinion if you request a project especially Wikiversity you must be sure that you have a viable community so as the project becomes successful when it is approved. Limburgish (and many other requests for wikiversities) hasn't got enough people interested to form a community, so I think that you should work in Beta Wikiversity and when there are enough people to form a community and there is success in the test project in beta you should make a proposal.--ZaDiak 22:01, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
