  • I have been an active Wikipedian editor since 2013. Most of my contributions are made offline to spread awareness about wiki projects.

Online Contributions

  • My first edit in a Wiki platform was in Malayalam wikipedia in the year 2013 as username "എന്‍ സാനു”[1]
  • Then I preferred the username “Sanu N ”[2] from the year 2016.
  • I have now made over 400 edits. I contributed over 40 new articles in to wikipedia.[3][4]
  • I have made many different types of edits over the years, including article writing, copy editing, translation etc. Most recently, I have been working mostly on commons.
  • I have been contributing to ml.wikipedia.org, commons.wikimedia.org, en.wikipedia.org, wikidata.org, meta.wikimedia.org, hi.wikipedia.org, nl.wikipedia.org, pt.wikipedia.org, es.wikipedia.org, ta.wikipedia.org.[5]

Offline Contributions

  • I have been organising various Wikimedia Workshops and Wikimedia Edit a-thon programs.
  • I was one of the prime organiser and one of the Conveners[6] of wiki conference 2013 named as വിക്കിസംഗമോത്സവം - 2013[7] at Alappuzha, where we organised a variety of programs such as Alappuzha wiki photowalk, Wiki class for press persons, Alappuzha wiki photowalk, Wiki student meet, seminars, and various sessions.[8] Over 1500 students and 500 wiki users from around the the state of kerala and many delegates from other parts and communities of India participated in the three day conference and associated Unconference events like wiki backwater explorations[9] , photowalkathon, QR Code campaign[10][11], Journalists' workshop[12]
  • I have actively participated in wikidata workshop in August 2017 held at Kochi as part of Mr. Asaf Bartov's Indian Wikidata Training Tour. I was also one of the co-ordinators to complete his Kochi event highly successful.[13]
  • In 2017 December, ML wiki celebrated its 15th birthday in various cities. I was part of this outreach event as a lead volunteer both offline and online.[14]
  • Besides direct contributions, I also participate in ML Wiki's social network groups such as in Facebook[15] , Whatsapp, Telegram etc. Our groups help peer users to overcome difficulties in editing wiki etc. We also welcome new wiki users in these groups and encourage and motivate them to be sustained active Wikipedians
  • I also happen to be a member in Wikimedia India Chapter since 2013.

Why do you need this support (Internet and/or laptop)

Having a laptop will be helpful to edit more articles and create graphics and other documents because the laptop which I had was very old and not working now. I am badly in need of a new laptop but I am not in a position to buy a new one.

Future activities

How will you use this in the next six months?

  1. Develop the existing articles with images, graphics and more contents.
  2. Create new articles that are very important and not found in my native language, ie, ml.wikipedia.
  3. Can translate more articles from English wiki to Indain Wikis such as ml.wikipedia, hi.wikipedia, ta.wikipedia.
  4. Can contribute to Commons by uploading hundreds of photos I have taken with my DSLR camera.
