Code snippets
editHello,
I read the page and I mostly agree with what Wikifunctions not is. From my point of view implementations of functions in a programming language are Code Snippets and so I dont understand why I can read there Wikifunctions is not a Code snippet website. I hope that there is a reuse of the functions outside the Wikifunctionswebsite in other Projects and for that people copy the code snippet they see on the Website and use it in a context. For the education part I agree that it is not in Wikifunctions possible to teach programming and to fully describe how to use it. So there are then other projects needed for that and trying to collaborate with existing ones. --Hogü-456 (talk) 20:07, 29 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Hogü-456 A code snippet site usually is very liberal in what kind of code snippets it accepts. Those snippets could be there because someone wants to discuss a specific syntactic structure, or because they have an issue with some code, and the snippets don't have to be able to run, but can be copied from a larger context, etc.
- In that sense, we are not a code snippet site - we don't center around the code snippets and are liberal in the snippets we accept. Yes, we will have code snippets on Wikifunctions, but these have to fulfill a large number of conditions, and they have to be possible to be run our very specific context. I think this is how we differ.
- And yes, collaborating with existing sites, almost across all the categories mentioned here, is something that is likely both interesting and will be fruitful! Once we are there, we should probably reach out to these communities. -- DVrandecic (WMF) (talk) 21:46, 3 September 2021 (UTC)
