Plans for Malayalam Community

edit

It's my earnest and polite opinion that CIS-A2K should consider more involvement and engagement with the Malayalam community. For the last few years, Malayalam seems to be not looked upon as a community that needs particular care and attention from the A2K's perspective. While thanking immensely for the timely financial aids provided for the one or two events per year, personally, I feel there is a broader scope for A2K's pro-active initiatives to motivate and sustain the activities in Malayalam communities of Wikipedia, Wikisource and Wikimedia Commons. An example case is to plan up Mini TTTs and MWTs within Kerala, focusing particularly for Malayalam volunteers. At present, any event in ML is initiated and conducted by the community members themselves with no persuasion or pro-active encouragement from CIS-A2K. This often becomes difficult as the community members have to spare more time and efforts in planning, executing and reporting than the real core duties they could perform such as resource contribution and content management.

A2K can also act as an interconnecting facilitator between ML, TA, KN, SA and other neighborhood communities and the EN community within Kerala itself. At present, these connections are almost non-existent. There is ample opportunities for inter-lingual collaborations and exponentially higher potential for combined content enrichment and interface design improvement among these communities.
