The proposal was designed in accordance to Wikimedia regulations and I am endorsing it because of the fact that with this event they can keep the free knowledge sharing and community reach at all times.

Your application has been approved

edit

Hello @~aanzx,

Congratulations! Your grant application has been approved in the amount of INR 323,090 from 1 December 2024 to 30 March 2025.

Prior to this, we had connected on 22 October and together we reviewed and made changes to the project budget to include a 10% contingency fee. The revised spreadsheet was then uploaded on Fluxx.

Congratulations also on the successful completion of your previous project. For documentation purposes, we are also sharing your final report here. We noted unspent funds from your previous project will also be offset from the total amount awarded from this project.

Observations/ Recommendations / Notes

Below, you will find the consolidated feedback and observations from the review team (i.e. SA regional funds committee and programme officer). Do take time to read and respond (i.e. provide more details) to the sharing(s) as necessary. Note: The review team may not have the same lived experience or understanding of the local context as you/your team. Hence, providing further insights will be very helpful in building on our collective wisdom and shared learnings.

  • Related to budget, would you be able to share in more detail the cost assumptions behind your budget line items? In particular: staff related expenses, travel and accommodation, food and beverage, logistics and space. What guidelines/ references did you use (i.e. feel free to share links to these costing examples) and why is it needed? Given the collaboration with colleges, and that training is provided, would they consider providing the venue as an in-kind contribution to your project?

  • Referencing questions 20 on tools to measure content contribution, you mentioned you may require support. Here's a list that I've put together. If you require more references, please feel free to reach out.

  • Related to question 17/ what do you hope to learn, here are some possible learning questions you can consider answering in your final report (i.e. part 2 under learnings)
    • a) document your learning journey as you transition from a technical contributor to taking on the role of a movement organiser. What were things you had to learn, what resources were most useful? Were there tools and materials you used? What did you do so that you did not have to reinvent the wheel, rather, you built on what was available and adapted it for your outreach. And
    • b) what are your preliminary observations in building a student community? What worked and didn't work? Who else was doing similar work and what can/ did you learn from them?

We know even the best thought through plans may change

In the event that there are changes to your implementation schedule, you can reach out to request for a grant extension (i.e. extend end date). Similarly, if there is a surplus budget or changes to your planned budget, you can reach out to me about reallocation (via email and on this talkpage). There is also the option to have the unspent funds deducted against a future grant. More details here: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Return_unused_funds_to_WMF

Additional resources which may be useful

We thank you for your participation in the application process and hope to continue to journey with you as you embark on this project. Let’s continue having regular conversations over the course of your project implementation. Please let me know if you require support in any way or would like to share your experiences with a wider community through the Let's Connect Programme or on South Asia Open Community Calls.

Thank you.

Regards,
