@Rammanojpotla: My bad that I made some rigorous experimental edits to your page :-/ I was trying to move all the JSON code to a collapsible template, but apparently that breaks the page structure. I think it is a VE bug that I will file soon. I tried multiple times but failed, though the same wikitext works fine on MediaWiki.org with the collapsible template. For now, I've let the code sit just inside <syntaxhighlight> tags. I've addressed Andre's two comments in my edits but not quite sure how to address the one about solutions and method. So I am leaving that for you to rephrase. SSethi (WMF) (talk) 05:50, 12 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Are "commits" in Gerrit what Gerrit calls "changesets"?

edit

@Rammanojpotla: Under "Technical Implementation", the Gerrit section says that "All the commits that user put are considered as contributions over gerrit." When you say "commits" do you actually mean "changesets"? You probably don't mean "patchsets"? Maybe the documentation should use the same words as the software to avoid misinterpretation? --AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 16:24, 11 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

What does "owned" mean for Phabricator; why is assignment considered a contribution?

edit

@Rammanojpotla: Under "Technical Implementation", the Phabricator section says "all the tasks that are owned by a user" but I do not know what an "owner" is. Maybe the documentation should use the same words as the software to avoid misinterpretation? Furthermore, I don't see why being assigned to a task in itself should be counted as a contribution: if the task has still an open task status, then it's only a statement that you plan to work on something (but not necessarily that you've done any work). --AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 16:26, 11 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

I've addressed your first question in the recent copyedits. In response to your second question - What is programmatically feasible or not, Rammanoj might be able to speak to that. I would only say as the idea behind the tool is to give a quick overview of all contributions of a user in the recent past (to scholarship committee reviewers to begin with); in my opinion, every activity should count. As members of the scholarship committee, when we review applications, from what I understand, we do a quick scan of an applicant's activity in Phabricator. And, we do not necessarily count how many tasks an applicant is actually doing some meaningful work on. From that lens, I think counting every activity should be okay. Do you think this makes sense? Clarify sentence about solutions and method?

edit

@Rammanojpotla: Under "Technical Implementation", I do not understand what the sentence "The solutions to both the above questions is not proposed by me. It is the way how wikimedia.bitergia.io gets the statistics. I am just following it’s method." means. Does wikimedia.biterg.io somewhere define what 'contributions' mean? Or do I misunderstand? How is wikimedia.biterg.io related at all here and why? --AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 16:27, 11 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

What does "Owned" in Phabricator statistics mean?

edit

Looking at my Phabricator stats, I understand "Assigned" (as "assignee" is also used in Phabricator, but what does "Owned" mean exactly? --AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 17:02, 13 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Ahem. I now realize I already asked this here a while ago but looks like I didn't receive an answer. --AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 17:03, 13 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hello, Thanks for this question @AKlapper (WMF):. During the development of version 1 of this tool, Rammanoj looked at Bitergia to figure out the fields that Bitergia include in their search results so as to get a sense of what is important and what is not. I think the ambiguity comes from the fact that "owner" means something else in Phabricator differential. In the context of Wikicontrib, we use the word "owned" to represent tasks that were created by a particular user. I think changing "owned" to "authored" should fix that. --Raymond_Ndibe 11:57, 14 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
