Anonymous blocks in the future
How will anonymous blocks persist in the future when blocks are set to an temporary account? And the block duration only until the account expires and what about the existing IP blocks that was set long in the past? JrandWP (talk) 16:09, 14 August 2023 (UTC)
- @JrandWP, it will be similar to blocks for registered editors. The admins will have the option of blocking only the account or the account + the underlying IP address (to prevent the immediate creation of a new account).
- This is sometimes called a "cookie block". There are technical details at phab:T5233. Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 23:38, 22 August 2023 (UTC)
