@Johan (WMF): Just a note, as I saw this link being touted as evidence of outreach and communication between the community and the people working on this project. This page suggests that no meaningful discussion was held with non-Wikipedia wikis, which accords with my experience as an editor at a large non-Wikipedia wiki (en.wiktionary). If this is true, it is poor practice, not only because you get less diverse community feedback, but also because the non-Wikipedia wikis feel excluded from the information and discussion pipeline. - Metaknowledge: Noted. Yeah, we did reach out to Tamil Wikisource, but didn't really get any response there. I would note that this page is really doesn't represent the core part of the conversations, and that we're not done pinging people to get their feedback.
- To give a background to these particular conversations, the main goal here was to reach out to just a few wikis that didn't speak English, where there was a risk editors couldn't participate on the Meta talk page, to see if that would change anything (for example, they might not have reliable access to tools that only exist in English, or have more barriers to cross-wiki work); we don't imagine this is a comprehensive survey of the Wikimedia communities.
- Thank you for the reminder. /Johan (WMF) (talk) 19:05, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
