Templates and patterns
editHi, @Kerry Raymond! Thanks again for contributing Web2Cit translation template configurations!
Remember that translation templates and translation tests must be based on specific webpages. The templates you have configured for this (www.moretonbay.qld.gov.au) and www.rockhamptonregion.qld.gov.au, www.visitbrisbane.com.au and www.queensland.com domains seem to have been based on generic paths such as /**/*.
Please change those paths to the specific paths of the webpages you based those templates on. For example, /News/Around-The-Region/Holiday-Services
, if applicable. This is important to help other Web2Cit collaborators understand why a template has been defined in some specific way. Also, because the Web2Cit monitor automatically checks translation for paths defined as templates or tests, using generic paths makes the monitor fail for them. See here for example: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Web2Cit/monitor/au/gov/qld/moretonbay/www/results
In addition, following the workshop outlined in the homepage's quick start guide, consider creating a translation test in addition to a translation template, indicating the expected outputs. That will be used by the monitor and by other Web2Cit community members to make sure translation results remain accurate.
Generic paths such as the ones you used are useful as URL path patterns in case you want to create translation subgroups within a domain. But most of the time you won't need that. You may check the Patterns documentation to find out more about them.
Let me know if you need further help with this. Best! Diegodlh (talk) 17:12, 29 November 2022 (UTC)
