- Is there a venue yet? --Rschen7754 19:13, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
- Rschen7754 yes. We will be in San Diego. DrMel can be more specific. --Pine✉ 23:16, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
Suggestions for the conference welcoming and registration areas
editSuggestion for background music in the conference registration and welcoming area: https://tools.wmflabs.org/wikiradio/index.php?channel=La_Pianista. This is a "WikiRadio" channel of piano performances of classical music, performed by User:La Pianista.
I also suggest having a display, with no audio, of http://listen.hatnote.com/, which shows a visualization of recent changes. --Pine✉ 16:58, 6 June 2016 (UTC)

editPlans are coming together quickly! We will having events and activities at both Balboa Park balboapark.org and the San Diego Central Library www.sandiego.gov/public-library. More details coming soon. Save the dates in the meantime - it's going to be a fantastic weekend!

Hotels?
editHi. The notes at WALRUS/June 2016 implore us to "BOOK YOUR HOTEL FOR WIKICONFERENCE USA NOW!!!", but I'm not sure where? Are there hotels recommended? I couldn't see anything at this page or Grants:PEG/FloNight & Rosiestep & DrMel /WikiConference North America 2016 or https://wikiconference.org/wiki/2016/Main_Page - Thanks! Quiddity (talk) 04:47, 15 July 2016 (UTC)
- Quiddity I will try to find out. Please ping me over the weekend if this information isn't updated. --Pine✉ 05:38, 15 July 2016 (UTC)
- Quiddity my audio was cutting in and out during tonight's meeting, but I did hear this information being discussed. I suggest asking DrMel because she seems to have been in contact with at least one hostel. --Pine✉ 02:29, 16 July 2016 (UTC)
The best hotel we have found is Hotel Indigo, walking distance from the library. We have discussed getting a room block there but it's difficult to tell if/when that'll happen so making your own booking directly at your earliest convenience may make the most sense. The HIUSA Downtown Hostel is also walking distance from the library. They've given us two discount codes which are not yet publicly posted (some confusion as to when they will be) but you could still use those promo codes today if you want to book something with them asap. Use [xxxx] if you'd like a bed in one of their dorms (should get you 15% off) or [xxxx] if you'd like one of their more private rooms (usually those sleep between 2 to 4 people, but you get to choose who you want to share with. The "main" website is now a dead link
editWhat happened? --Orange Mike (talk) 00:14, 13 October 2016 (UTC)
- Orangemike, the link seems to be working for me; can you please re-check and let me know whether you're still seeing an error? Kirill Lokshin (talk) 04:20, 13 October 2016 (UTC)
- Hmmm... working fine now. --Orange Mike (talk) 05:12, 13 October 2016 (UTC)
