Great Idea

edit

This is a great idea, as a new wiki user I wasn't aware projects like this were available to me. I agree with lopezjaylo98 when she says the page sounds more like an advertisment, perhaps some re-writes would be benificial? I would appreciate any feedback anybody has on my first wikipedia article, this can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helen_Varley_Jamieson. Announcing policy discussions relevant to women

edit

I don't know if it is "canvassing" to put things like this En.Wikipedia civility enforcement discussion - or any relevant discussions in other languages. Sharing how the FB/blog/twitter feeds can and cannot be used canvassing-wise and/or a section of this content page for such announcements might be helpful. Thanks. A couple things

edit

First, there is a link to a Facebook page, but there is no Facebook page for this. It's a dead link. Second, how about we also make a project page on Wikipedia? And third, this is a great idea, so don't give up! :D And fourth, the page kinda seems like an ad then a project. I think we need to rewrite it. I am planning to be a participant as soon as this moves into Wikipedia, as i'm an active Wikipedia user than anything else. But, best of luck to you all! This is a great idea! :D Lopezjaylo98 (talk) 01:19, 10 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

The Facebook page is not a dead link. KTC (talk) 09:38, 10 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
And the point of the project is to engage women to participate in editing Wikipedia and participating in the project. So it needs to read like a pitch, not a Wikipedia article :) Thanks for your enthusiasm! SarahStierch (talk) 22:04, 10 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Community

edit

As a new women to join wikipedia I think this a brilliant idea in bringing the community of wikipedia even closer together and a way to celebrate and engage with others work. I think this will serve as a great support system and would like anyone who is involved with this to provide me with some feedback on my contributions to wikipedia so far here is my work so far http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_A._Schrum. Also I attempted to like this page on Facebook but could not get the link to work.

I look forward to meeting and engaging with more people.

Hi Lydia! Sorry the link didn't work for you, try this one perhaps? That's a good place to also share your calls to action - since women who aren't yet editing and might be inspired to do so are on the Facebook page. I also encourage you (And everyone!) to invite women you know to like the Facebook page, too! So glad you are involved here, and on Wikipedia! :) SarahStierch (talk) 17:59, 29 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hullo, Lydia and Sarah! Even ^this is a dead link it seems.. User:Shalvi_Garima_Negi (User_talk:Shalvi_Garima_Negi)

Blog inactive

edit

As far as I can tell the WikiWomen blog has been inactive for half a year now? :( --Piotrus (talk) 12:21, 2 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Well, your entry is certainly the first notification for activity I've received for about that long. Sadly, it appears that those who initiated it didn't manage to get the ball rolling (or abandoned the project themselves?). It's a very lonely space... --Iryna Harpy (talk) 21:56, 2 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Request for feedback on Wikimedia IEG proposal re: women and Wikipedia

edit

Hi. I realize this is rather last minute, but I'd love any and all feedback re: my Wikimedia Individual Engagement Grant proposal re: women and Wikipedia. I'm just about to move it from draft status to submission, and I'd love your thoughts before or after. Thanks! --Mssemantics (talk) 02:56, 30 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Adrianne Wadewitz tribute editathons

edit

I've just come across this project, in looking for places to publicise the London memorial to User:Wadewitz. Is this page still going, or is it moribund? Where else might I tell people about our editathon (in the Mary Wollstonecraft Room) on Saturday 31 May? There are many tributes to her around the world. Carbon Caryatid (talk) 22:40, 22 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

We here at IU are hosting two events in honor of Adrianne, and this will probably become an annual thing. Our first is January 23, 2015 10am-4pm EST. We will be using the #tooFEW hashtag. I'd love to see this space revitalized.--Tannakin (talk) 20:49, 15 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Women's History Month, India-2016

edit

Following the tradition(?) of the last two years that I had seen on Wikimedia, I created a page this year for Women's History Month 2016. However, I don't know where to take it from here, after creating the page. Any advice or suggestion? Ankita Shukla (talk) 10:55, 2 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Ankita Shukla. It might be worth asking for advice at the English Wikipedia Village Pump. Good luck! --Iryna Harpy (talk) 21:41, 2 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

"Women are everywhere"

edit

Hi, I'm an editor of the Italian Wikipedia. I'm trying to participate to an IEG with the project "Women are everywhere". You will find the draft at this link https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:IEG/Women_are_everywhere It would be great if you could have a look at it. I need any kind of suggestion or advice to improve it. Support or endorsement would be fantastic. Many thanks,--Kenzia (talk) 13:34, 2 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Are there multiple edit-a-thons running for African women activists?

edit

Hello all, I volunteer at Articles for Creation on en.wikipedia and we've had a substantial influx of articles about African women activists. Initially I was seeing a lot of Zambia, but more recently more Zimbabwe and Uganda. I take it y'all have been running some editathons? Folks were asking at Teahouse as well; do y'all have any centralized list of what EATs you're running so people in reviewing positions can know what's up? Personally, since AFC is so backlogged I've been prioritizing reviewing these since they're apparently Wikimedia-supported and also seems a good way to address Systemic Bias.

So it's not any problem, if anything they have a much higher success rate than AFC overall. Maybe 70% look to be Notable-ish, 50% are immediately clearly Notable but need work, and 30% can be approved with just a 10-second glance. And I'd rather cover those than the endless AFC submissions for people's crummy garage bands, YouTube personalities, and (shudder) Bitcoin startups. Just checking in, thanks!
