Talk:Wikinews/Interview of the month
Great idea
editDefinitely a great idea, could help to bring new spirit to Wikinews --Deprifry 15:16, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
Deadlines!
editWe need to set up deadlines for when to close a month's nominations, and when to have a prioritized list of nominees drawn up. (The list will need to be prioritized in order of desired interviewees because not all will actually agree to be interviewed, so we start at the top and work our way down until someone agrees to be involved.)
I suggest we close nominations on the third Monday of the month before the interview, and have a prioritized list on the fourth Monday of the month. The method for prioritizing candidates should be a positive poll (vote for as many candidates as you think would make good interviews), set up on the third Monday of the month and tallied on the Sunday before the fourth Monday.
Any other deadline issues we should talk about? - Amgine 18:46, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
- The easiest way to do this would be to make a numbered list of the candidates. If you have issue with a potential interviewee simply don't put him/her on the list. It would be helpful if you noted why but I don't see that as totally necessary. --Sfullenwider 02:07, 13 December 2005 (UTC)
Why only one per month?
editWhy should we only do one interview per month? I think this page should be called WikiNews/Interview_Project. I have not renamed the page but I have created an "interviews immediately" heading. Of course, feel free to revert me if I'm wrong. :) Unforgettableid 04:42, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
- To keep it feasible for group participation. Basically time constrants. There is nothing stoping anyone from conducting interviews on their own if you feel the need to do more than one a month. --Sfullenwider 01:25, 25 December 2005 (UTC)
Transclusion
editWhy does this page use a poor man's version of transclusion? It makes it annoying to edit the page. :) --Unforgettableid 04:48, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
1 week left
editOk, Gentlebeings, we have 1 week left in December. We need to get the ball rolling with a quickness. Because of the holiday season in many english speaking countries we should probably pick someone who has IRC knowledge already and is frequently available on IRC on a normal basis to ease this thing in this time restrictive period. --Sfullenwider 01:30, 25 December 2005 (UTC)
Neighbor of Jefferson coordination
editWe are going to need Portuguese speakers for the following:
- To serve as moderator(s) for the interview
- To translate questions we develop into Portuguese
- To translate the interview as it happens
- To translate the interview transcript after it happens.
Of course we'll need these translators for many languages. Any language edition who has translators available for this event, please list them here! - Amgine / talk meta 22:30, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
- Spanish-language edition: Julián Ortega (translation from Portuguese)
Ideas
edit- Have a weekly interview.
- I'm trying to get Either Richard Stallman/Eric Raymonds/Linus torvalds to come in.
- DO NOT allow bloggers to be included; blogs themselves express enough opinion about the person.
- Aim high, and aim for lots of people, so we're bound to get at least one! (Try celebrities that have expressed an interest, or even a politician)
Video Interviews! (ouooo, ahhhh)
editI know it can be tricky, but my suggestion is to use video capture whenever possible when interviewing individuals. In addition to providing an exact transcript, the interview becomes more valuable without emotion expressed through emoticons. Audio only isn't bad either. GChriss 04:14, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
