We are a group of enthusiastic Wikimedians who first crossed paths during the Wikimedia CEE Meeting 2023 in Tbilisi, Georgia. Our shared interests and common goals led us to forge a stronger connection and collaborate further. Now, we’re excited to strengthen our connections and work together on projects we all care about.
In this contest, participants will translate articles from English into one of the following languages: Albanian, Azerbaijani, Italian, Persian, and Russian. Each month, we’ll translate one article, and we aim to complete 5 translations each month.
Rules and Guidelines:
edit
- Article Selection
- Topic Freedom: You can choose an article on any topic. Whether it’s a small, local interest piece or a large, significant entry, the choice is yours.
- English Source: The article must have an English version to ensure a straightforward translation process.
- Language Requirement: The article should be missing or stub in our selected languages (Albanian, Azerbaijani, Italian, Persian, and Russian).
- Personal Connection
- Relevance: Choose a topic that holds personal significance to you. It could be your favourite childhood dish, an amazing place you visited recently, or a band that you adore. Share a brief explanation about why the topic is important to you in your translation.
- Competitive Element
- While the main focus is on learning more about each other’s interests and contributing to global knowledge, we may introduce a competitive aspect if desired. This could include monthly awards or barnstars for outstanding translations. The primary goal is to enjoy the process and celebrate our diverse interests.
- Choose an Article: Find an English article that fits the criteria.
- Translate: Translate the article into one of our selected languages.
- Submit: Share your translation with the group and include a brief note explaining your personal connection to the topic.
