These are the statuses a translation can be put in:

Status	When it should be used
missing	When the translation has not been started.
in progress	When a translation is in progress.
needs updating	When the source of the translation has been changed and it needs updating.
proofreading	When the translation is done, but is waiting for proofreading. Remember to always have another person proofread the page before it is marked as ready!
ready	When the translation has been proofread and is ready for publishing.
published	When the translation is done and has been published.
