Template talk:Essay
Bad template
editThis template is appalling. Reading any of the pages tagged with it requires, at least on my WWW browser with its default new window size, pressing Page Down three times before reaching any of the actual page content. We need to condense this template somehow. Given that it doesn't even handle all languages yet, the current situation is only destined to get worse. Clearly the approach of translating a notice into every language for which the Foundation has a wiki is not a viable one for page notice templates. Uncle G 14:04, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
- We can follow the example of template:welcome. We can use pathoschild's ajax transclusion if desired. Hillgentleman 15:19, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
- I agree this template is crazy. There should be separate versions for each language. Ajax transclusion is inappropriate because of the javascript dependency. The rendered versions of the page (such as the print version) shouldn't depend on javascript. 75.57.242.120 18:27, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
- Agree with Uncle G. --JN466 01:26, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
- What browser do you use? Ruslik (talk) 17:11, 2 July 2012 (UTC)
- It's more than two-and-a-half-thousand words of notice text in a box. What makes you think that the browser is relevant? Uncle G (talk) 10:01, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
- Because I only see one textbox—in the language of my browser. There is also a selection box in the upper left corner. You should select your language. After that all other languages will disappear. Ruslik (talk) 10:09, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
- If your interface language isn't in this template then it shows all languages I think. So it isn't browser specific. – linnea (talk) 15:30, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
- My language is included and the template used to work for me, but currently it doesn't on Firefox, while it works on Chromium. --Nemo 16:06, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
- Should be fixed now, see Meta:Babel#Template_talk:Essay (and write there if it's still broken for you). --Nemo 16:43, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

Adding a new language
editHi! I usually contribute to nynorsk Wikipedia and northern sami Wikipedia, thus I am not autoconfirmed here on wikimedia yet. Would someone like to add this translation for Norwegian nynorsk on my behalf?
