Toolhub/Progress reports/2022-07-01
Report on activities in the Toolhub project for the 3 weeks ending 2022-07-01.
Production release made
editA few minor bug fixes were deployed to the production https://toolhub.wikimedia.org site on 2022-06-30. This was the first deployment of the production service since 2022-06-01.
The main reason for this release was to deploy gerrit:801413 which ensures that Toolhub can use either an Elasticsearch 6.x or 7.x service for it's full-text search. The Search team are working on upgrading the production Elasticsearch servers to 7.10. This new build of Toolhub is compatible with both the current and new versions, which should make the service upgrade transparent for Toolhub users other than any brief interruption at the exact time of service updates.
Bugs fixed:
- Search for tools when building list works differently than type ahead search for tools generally
- Fix bugs in published list view's autocomplete and full search functionalities
Technical debt:
Future plans
editA new quarter and fiscal year just started, and we as a team will be discussing in which direction to take Toolhub. While we have some ideas, we would always like to hear from tool users and maintainers. Yes, we're looking at you! File those bugs, swamp us with feature requests, pitch your coolest ideas.
The controlled vocabulary and taxonomy project, led by User:TBurmeister_(WMF), is in progress. If you want to leave feedback, you can do so in Phabricator: Controlled vocabulary and taxonomy for Toolhub.
