Properties

edit

An example of a property on Wikidata. It says that Uruguay is an instance of a sovereign state.

A property is a specific relationship that connects an item with a value. In Wikidata properties are represented by the letter P followed by a number. The "instance of" property, for example, is P31. A property always takes a value, which in this case is sovereign state. A value can be text, a number or even another item itself; sovereign state is the item Q3624078.
