A bit about the background to why we are doing this
In 2016 Wikimedia Sverige and UNESCO started working together as part of the project Connected Open Heritage. Together we aim to collect an enormous amount of data and images around the world's cultural heritage. We will bring together both historical images from GLAMs and official data about recognized cultural heritage.
However, real value is created when the material is put to good use on Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects. Therefore a number of events such as this challenge will be organized as part of the project. This first UNESCO Challenge is co-organized with the Swedish National Heritage Board.
